Amazon/KDP’s proofreaders cleared the Hope ‘91 book for production yesterday, and all of the pre-publication orders now set up in the Amazon/KDP ordering system, so everyone should be receiving their books in about 10-12 days. (Those who requested signed copies will see theirs arrive a week or so later than the directly-mailed unsigned copies.) Today or tomorrow I will be sending emails to everyone who ordered the pre-publication copies, explaining when they can expect their books to arrive.
Right now the Hope ‘91 book is the #1 New Release in Amazon’s Iditarod & Dog Sledding category! I have left the retail price at $42.50 per book on Amazon, because I've learned with my other books that they offer their own discounted prices, which directly affects my royalties for each book they sell. Right now the Amazon price is $37.98, which is cheaper than my price, so if I gave Amazon customers the regular $39.95 price I would lose money on every book they sold. So the pricing is higher at Amazon, but they also offer other perks to their customers. One can, for example, check out the first dozen or so pages of the book with their ‘Peek Inside’ feature.
I've set the wholesale pricing at $21.97 per book at the standard 55% bookstore discount, plus shipping, and I'm going to request a minimum six-book order for that wholesale discount price. The retail price for the book is $39.95 plus shipping. Anyone can order the book at the wholesale discount price, just order six or more copies, but the wholesale discount is only available directly from me. The cost for six copies would be $131.82 plus $6.50 for shipping (U.S. only; foreign orders please contact me). After six months of production it feels really good to have this splendid book in print!
